Wintertime in Dronten

At last!!! It seems that we are getting some winter in the Netherlands
as well!! Last year had such a soft winter, but now it is freezing for
some day's. Not very hard, but just enough so that the water will be
frozen, and the soil and plants will have a good rest.
It is good for nature to have the rest of a real winter!! And even for
the people it is better and healthier!
Personally I like it when it is this weather: it is clean and fresh, and
the sky is very beautiful. Especially the sun-rise and sun-sets can be
very nice with this weather.
My dearest wish is now that the open water of the "Veluwemeer" will be
frozen, so that we can go Ice skating during the Christmas holiday. It
gives a very nostalgic feeling when you skate there over the vast black
ice, while passing the borders of the lake with the reed-plants waving
you goodbye! :-) That's what we really like in a Dutch winter.
Sometimes it seems that you only can see this winter on old Christmas
cards, but I sincerely hope that it will become reality as well.
Still a few day's of darkness before Christmas, because after the 21st
the day's are getting longer again! That is also good for humans!! I
like the light and the frost. The only thing that could make it perfect
is a good layer of snow, but if this wish will come true??? I don't
know! We'll see about that! :-)
