Holiday in Wales UK

This year we went to Wales for our holiday. Special event: we were invited for the wedding of Jennie's niece: Dirkje! So we took the car and our tent and went to France to take the Tunnel under the Channel to go to Brittain.
Wedding was very nice, beautiful weather, beautiful bride, handsome groom :-) Everything as it should be. When it was over, we took the car and the tent and head for the West part of Wales. We went to the National Botanic Garden in Cartmarthen: A greenhouse like a big UFO, but very interesiting. St. Davids was great for it's Kathedral, but also for White Sands Beach and the Coastpath.
One day we visited Skomer Island. A great day: the first time in my life that I saw Puffins in real (see photo). Very interesting funny sea birds. Colourful, but also serious. It's a visit I can recommend to everybody.
We drove north along the coast and took the narrow track steam train to Devil's Bridge. Nice experience, but you need actually more time to visit the waterfall, than the availabe one hour!
Later we drove on to Snowdonia and found a place close to Betwys-y-Coed. Beautiful mountain area. On one of these days we visited mount Snowdon. We arrived at the train at 10.00 am. but because it was very busy we only could get the train of 14.30. But we did!! And it was OK!! But it's better to take the train earlier in the morning, and then to walk back from the mountain to the village. There is a very good footpath going down, and a 3 hours walk brings you right back to the village. I want to do that next time!!
Conway is a very nice old city with Citywalls and an interesting Castle!! Drive the road on the left side of the valley to go there. Very nice road and villages.
On a very rainy day we drove south in the midst of the hills. Beautiful scenery but I was sorry that it was raining whole day. This area is not touristic yet, but very beautiful!!
We stopped at Abergavenny, and drove one day to Brecon, following the Canal. Very nice to see the canal boats passing the lock!!
All together it was a very good time to be in Wales. I would like to do it again some other time!!
Now it's time to work again, maybe I look a bit similar like the Puffin, a bit melancholic that holiday is over!! ;-)
